When Zebedee Started Slowing Down
Every great idea starts with someone you love. For us, it was Zebedee - our dog, our best friend, and the reason Tailkind exists today.
As Zebedee got older, we watched the spark in his eyes stay bright while his body started to slow down. The walks got shorter. The stairs got harder. Then came two ACL injuries - one after the other - that changed everything.
Suddenly, the dog who used to tear around the park could barely get comfortable on his bed. We were desperate to find something that would help reduce his discomfort and get him moving again.
Could Collagen Work for Dogs Too?
We started with a simple question: collagen was already helping millions of people stay active and comfortable, so could it do the same for dogs?
The more we read, the more convinced we became. Research on type II collagen and green-lipped mussel pointed to real benefits for canine joint comfort and mobility. We learned why human studies pair turmeric with black pepper extract, and why the form of an ingredient matters as much as the ingredient itself.
Then we looked at what was actually on the shelves. Fillers. Artificial additives. Formulas built to a price rather than to a purpose. We couldn't find anything we'd happily give our own dogs, so we decided to make it ourselves.
